U13+ Boys & Girls League Play
One unified level of meaningful competition — no pay-to-play tiers, no artificial divisions, just great soccer.
How competition works
The Midwest Super League runs a single, unified competition for U13+ boys and girls. Teams are grouped into geographic pods to keep travel reasonable, with a dual-window schedule that works around high school seasons and hosted weekends that cluster multiple games into one trip.

Geographic pods
Teams grouped by region so families aren't driving across four states for a regular season game. Most travel stays under 4 hours.
Metro
Twin Cities, MN
Minnesota-based clubs in the greater Twin Cities area. The largest concentration of member clubs — short drives, frequent matchdays.
Dakotas
North Dakota & South Dakota
ND and SD clubs play within their region during the regular season. Cross-pod weekends connect east to Metro and Lakeshore.
Plains
Nebraska & Missouri
NE and MO clubs form the southern-central core. Natural travel corridor along I-29 and I-35 keeps drives manageable.
Heartland
Iowa
Iowa clubs anchoring the center of the league. Easy cross-pod connections north to Metro and south to Plains.
Lakeshore
Wisconsin
Wisconsin clubs along the Lake Michigan corridor. Natural geographic link to Twin Cities Metro for cross-pod matchdays.
How it works for families: Regular season games stay within your pod (typically under 4 hours). Cross-pod weekends happen 2–3 times per season on pre-scheduled dates so you can plan ahead.
Season format
A dual-window schedule modeled after the proven USYS National League format — designed around high school seasons so players never have to choose.
U13 / U14 — Full Season
Players not yet in high school play a full fall + spring season. Games every other weekend within your pod, plus cross-pod hosted weekends. ~12–14 total games spread September through May.
U15+ — Dual-Window Schedule
High school players compete in the window that doesn't conflict with their state's HS season. Fall HS states play MSL in spring; spring HS states play MSL in fall. Crossover weekends bring everyone together.

Fall Window (Sept – Nov)
For teams whose HS season is in spring:
- Boys: Iowa, Nebraska
- Girls: Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota
Spring Window (Mar – May)
For teams whose HS season is in fall:
- Boys: Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota
- Girls: Minnesota, South Dakota
Crossover Weekends (August pre-season, January, June post-HS) are open to all teams regardless of state — used for inter-window matchups, cross-pod play, and the Season Finale.
Hosted weekends
One trip, multiple games. The same model USYS National League used to make cross-state play practical for families.
How it works
Instead of single-game travel, visiting teams come to a host city and play multiple games over one weekend. This dramatically cuts the number of trips families make per season.
- 2 games Saturday + 1 game Sunday per team
- Host city rotates among pod members
- 3–4 hosted weekends per window
- One trip = 3 league games completed
- 6–8 total games per season for U15+
Example: Weekend in Minnesota
Visiting: 2 teams from SD + 1 team from IA
Hosting: 3 Minnesota teams
Saturday: Each visiting team plays 2 games
Sunday: Each visiting team plays 1 game
Result: 3 league games completed in one trip instead of 3 separate weekends of travel.
Why this works: National League proved this model across 13 conferences nationwide. Families budget for 3–4 travel weekends per season instead of 8+. Games are meaningful because every matchday has multiple fixtures and a tournament-weekend atmosphere.

Who plays
U13 and up, boys and girls — with scheduling tailored to each age group's reality.
U13 / U14
Boys & Girls. Full fall + spring season. Not yet in high school, so no scheduling conflicts. 12–14 games across both windows.
U15 / U16
Boys & Girls. Windowed schedule that works around your state's HS season. Hosted weekends keep travel to 3–4 trips.
U17 / U19
Boys & Girls. Windowed schedule — same model as U15/16. Preparing for college showcases and the next chapter.
